Devon Wedding Venues
10 favourite wedding venues in Devon, picked by a Devon wedding photographer.
Hello there!
Are you planning to get married in Devon and looking for your perfect wedding venue? Hopefully I can help you. I’ve worked as a wedding photographer in Devon for over 10 years and I’d love to share my insider knowledge of some of my favourite wedding venues with you.
One of the best things about my job is getting to spend time in some of these incredible venues and working with local suppliers. I can also advise you about these too! Whether you are looking to getting married in a tipi the beach or a stylish country house, Devon has so many interesting and stunning venues to choose from. It must be quite a job searching for you dream venue so hopefully this little snippet below of a few of my favourites (listed A-Z) will help you to decide. There were plenty of other incredible venues which I haven’t included, please get in touch and I may be able to send you a gallery from the venue that you considering.
Ashridge Great Barn
If you are looking for a ‘rustic chic’ wedding venue then Ashridge Great Barn is a fab choice! It has a large barn for dining and plenty of outdoor space. I photographed a wedding here on a very hot August Bank Holiday. The light in the barn was fantastic and it was the perfect shelter for the sweltering heat. The couple were married in the gardens, which is a gorgeous setting for an outdoor ceremony. This is very classic mid-country Devon with everything that you want for a rural wedding.

CLIFF HOUSE
If you are looking at upmarket, seaside Devon wedding venues then this could be for you. I’ve photographed a number of weddings at this lovely Salcombe wedding venue. The first thing to mention are the incredible views out over the surrounding sea & beaches. Salcombe is popular Devon destination for sailing and so there are always lots of little boats bobbing around! I always advise my couples to grab a ferry over to East Portlemouth for couple shots. This makes for gorgeous images of you both, on the beach and in the boat. You can spot Cliff House (the large orange house on the hill) from the other side so it’s great to include it in the backdrop.

It was also featured on wedding blog Love My Dress and you can view the full feature here with tips from the couple along with my wedding photography. I full galleries of my wedding photography at this venue and more recent weddings (including 2022) that I can share with you if you get in touch. Thanks!

Carswell Farm
This is another venue for incredible views. Carswell Farm is much wilder terrain than Salcombe though, with open fields and panoramic sea views – only to be found in Devon! It feels quite remote so the perfect spot for a big party. Carina & Sven’s wedding here was just that – it was festival themed and the couple had a surprise karaoke contest for their guests. There was plenty of glitter & dancing! One of my highlights was watching the full moon rise over the ocean (how often do you get to see that in your life?!) it was magic.

DARTINGTON HALL
This wedding venue is very special to me as I live only a couple of miles away. Dartington Hall is somewhere that I have spent a lot of time, especially when my daughter was a little baby and wanted to crawl around the gardens here! It’s a beautiful and atmospheric venue and one that is lovely all year round. One March wedding we all got snowed in and you can get an idea from the photo below how magical that looked! Last summer I photographed Sarah & Olivia’s outdoor intimate wedding in the garden summer house. It was so beautiful and perfect for a relaxed, summer’s afternoon. Afterwards we wandered the gardens, taking images amongst the flowers & bumblebees.

HOLSOME PARK
This fun & eco-friendly venue is also local to me in Totnes, Devon. It’s a beautiful spot, with rolling country hills all around. They also have animals (which the kids loved feeding!) and a gorgeous barley field, perfect for sunset photos. The barn was built for their first wedding – Holly & Gareth’s – which I had the absolute joy to photograph. It looked incredible and was very light filled in the afternoon. The barn is surrounded by woodland, which provides and nice bit of shade in the summer. It was the perfect place for their outdoor ceremony too. This venue is simple but it words really well as a blank canvas and has all the right kind of spaces you need for the day to run smoothly. Joyful weddings like this that are the real highlight of my job as a Devon wedding photographer 🙂

Middle Coombe Farm
If you are looking at rustic, country Devon wedding venues then you’ll love this one! This venue is very quintessentially Devon. It has a classic old cider barn, woodlands, plenty of outdoor space for garden games and a swimming pool. The perfect venue for your country shindig! I first started photographing weddings here back in 2012, before I became a Devon wedding photographer. I was living in London at the time and I’ve photographed quite a few more weddings at this lovely venue since then! In fact, this is probably the wedding venue that I have photographed the most amount of weddings at. Please get in touch to see some examples of my wedding photography at Coombe Farm.

Monks Withecombe
If you love the idea of getting married on Dartmoor then Monks Withecombe and Neadon Barn (below) are both great choices. If you want open, sprawling hills, floral gardens and a light, contemporary barn then Monks Withecombe is for you. I’ve photographed a number of weddings at this stunning venue and often with very different set-ups. Sometimes people book a marquee out on the open field for their wedding dinner but a lot of the time the barn is used. It’s great to be able to have some choice and Monk’s allows you to do just that. Whether you are having a cosy autumn wedding or a full on summer wed-fest, this is a very adaptable Devon wedding venue for couples who love the great outdoors and everything Dartmoor has to offer.

Neadon Barn
Another gorgeous Dartmoor wedding venue, Neadon Barn also has gardens and a lovely big barn. This is very much a classic old barn and it is lit with candles and fairy-lights (so romantic!). It’s not too far from Hay Tor so this has always been a pit stop for my Neadon Barn weddings. It’s wonderful to be able to do this and to bring some of the wilder, surrounding landscapes into the wedding photo story.

River Cottage
River Cottage is such an iconic venue in Devon. I love their ethos and have been a fan for many years. I think I still have a 2006 or 2007 River Cottage Diary kicking around somewhere! I was so excited when I photographed my first wedding at River Cottage in 2017. It was a glorious late summer’s day and the gardens were all in bloom. Since then, I have been back for spring, summer, autumn and winter weddings. I can tell you that it’s magic in any season, with cosy fires for the winter and abundant gardens in the summer. Get in touch and I can share some of my galleries and River Cottage stories with you! I highly recommend booking this venue and me as the photographer 😉

The Grain Store
If you have always dreamed of a beach wedding and are searching for Devon wedding venues near a beach then this is a fab choice! The Grain Store in Beesands is a short walk down to the main beach on this popular South Devon destination. You can wed on their private farmland overlooking the beach, the perfect place for your beach wedding ceremony. Afterwards, head back to their fabulous contemporary barn for dinner and drinks.
I photographed the first ever wedding here! It was held in a tipi on the private land adjoining the beach. It was wonderful (although very lucky it wasn’t a windy day!). Since then The Grain Store have built this fantastic barn and it was wonderful to see it last year for Emily & Sam’s wedding. If you are planning to get married here please get in touch for tips & photos!
