If you enjoy rustic, country weddings then you’ll love this! Sophie & Sam were wed at Ashridge Great Barn here in Devon last July. Like many others, their wedding was postponed in 2020 due to covid but luckily they managed to pretty much stick to the same date and plan, booking their 2021 wedding over the same weekend in mid July.
They were certainly blessed with beautiful weather for the day in 2021, it was a scorcher! A bit too hot at times… Sam and his groomsmen were hiding under the shade of a tree when I met him for their outdoor ceremony. As guests fanned themselves in the sunshine, the couple exchanged their long awaited vows in the gardens at Ashridge Barn. It was a beautiful ceremony. Everyone then spilled out onto the grounds for a colourful confetti line, canapes and champagne. I snuck into the barn for a sneak peek of the wedding breakfast preparations – what a gorgeous space! The couple had truly made the space their own with DIY decor in a vintage & rustic style, so well suited to the wedding venue. I particularly loved the handmade menus, which matched their order of the day and the naming of their tables ‘Little Owls’ being my personal fave!
One of my favourite memories from this day was the first dance. The outside lighting wasn’t yet on and the moon had risen so the couple shared a moonlit first dance. Amazing!! It was wonderful working with such a lovely pair in these stunning surroundings.
