Ah finally spring is in the air… the birds are singing and the daffodils are out. You can real feel the turn of the seasons at this time of year ,as we head from the darkness of winter into lighter & longer sun-filled days.

Kim & Pete were handfasted just after the autumn equinox when the nights were drawing in, the air getting crisper and the trees shedding their summer leaves. It feels so long ago now! Theirs was an earthy celebration with a reception in treehouses and a bonfire in the woods. You can really feel autumn creeping into these photos, the leaves on the ground and the mushrooms sprouting on logs. The venue was The Treehouse Study Centre in Beaulieu. It had a very back to nature vibe, with open treehouses nestled in the surrounding New Forest woodland and speeches around the fire. The couple even braved the autumn chill for their wedding night by camping in a bell tent! I very much enjoyed photographing Kim’s wedding dress here too. The dress itself was a stunningly unique – handcrafted and designed by her very own Mum. This was teamed with some little ballet shoes which were also inspired by Kim’s Mum, a former professional dancer.

The wedding party headed out of the woods to the meadow for Kim’s & Pete’s handfasting ceremony. Haybales were positioned in a spiral so that Kim did not walk down the aisle but round where the guests were seated. They were blessed with beautiful autumn sunshine as they read their vows to each other. Afterwards, people mingled in the sun a little longer, then headed back in the woods for food. I LOVE the colourful decor of this wedding… such gorgeous rustic rainbow chairs. The cake, made by local tearoom – Kitty’s Tilted Teacup – really matches these too! After food guests joined in a variety of outdoor fun & games, including archery. The speeches around the fire was a real highlight for me… what better setting for friends & family to gather together for this woodland wedding.
