I love being a Devon based wedding photographer as there are so many gorgeous local venues. Rebecca & Ywain choose one of the most beautiful Devon venues for their August bank holiday wedding. The Oak Barn in Hittisleigh, near Exeter is stunning, with three barns and rolling Devon countryside all around. It was at it’s finest for their wedding day, decorated with colourful handmade decor and blessed with late summer sunshine.

The couple took inspiration from the local Devon landscape for their table theme. The Oak Barn is a stones throw from Dartmoor and each table was named after a Dartmoor tor with a B&W landscape shot of the location. The table plan was a map of the county with each tor labelled on the map. It was such a lovely touch for a (nearly!) Dartmoor wedding. I also love the little personalised jam jars… All of their gorgeous, colourful bunting was handmade and Ywain even surprised Rebecca with huge handmade banners. She didn’t see these until she entered the room for her wedding ceremony! I kept finding quirky little touches around the venue all day – the photo-boards, the little dog (a mini replica of their pet Zak!), the humorously named beers, (Withycombe Gurning Society World Champion Society Cider!). So much thought and love went into everything for this day and it was lovely to capture all the heartfelt details.

Rebecca & Ywain totally lucked out with the weather… The whole of the August bank holiday this year was magic. Guests relaxed in the heat and enjoyed a variety games outdoors. They were even treated to ice-cream after lunch. At sunset we took a stroll out to the fields and, I must say, they definitely nailed the best sunset I’ve seen all season! After a short while I left them to enjoy the romantic moment alone together (although I did sneak a few more pics when they weren’t looking!)… a fabulous end to a lovely country wedding.
