Natalie & Max | Days Cottage Brookthorpe Wedding Photography
As the seasons change once again, a throwback to Autumn today on the blog. Natalie & Max’s wedding was held on the 1st September at Days Cottage in Brookthorpe, Gloucestershire. It was an outdoor celebration amongst apple trees and a real early autumn delight.
Anyone who follows my work will know I’m a sucker for a tipi or a yurt so I was super excited to find out about that they were planning to have a humongous yurt here! This is was where the wedding breakfast was held, and later lots of dancing and silent disco shenanigans. The wedding yurt was decorated in a beautifully minimalistic style, with jars of Sunflowers on the tables and heather gracing the dinner plates. Max & Natalie crafted the majority of decorations for their wedding and Natalie even made her own wedding dress! She and her bridesmaids also created their own bouquets and I photographed them putting the flowers together in the morning. My second shooter, Alice Whitby, captured all the last minute DIY jobs at Days Cottage too. It was really fun looking back at them afterwards and piecing the whole story together.
Natalie & Max love their music and met through the Jazz society at University. Their musical friends attended the wedding and surprised them with a flash-mob in the middle of the ceremony! The performance was a 4 part harmony version of September by Earth, Wind & Fire, with lyrics written especially for the couple. It was such a special moment. More singing could be heard much later during the ‘silent disco’ but I can’t say it was as harmonious!!
I loved everything about this day, the laid back vibes and alternative country setting. I stayed pretty much until the end, capturing all of the dancing a singing as it continued into the night. Natalie & Max are such a great couple to be around and I really had a blast! Special thanks to Alice Whitby for her excellent work covering the day with me.
