Lupe & Doug | East Soar Farm Wedding Photographer
Sometimes I feel so lucky to be a Devon wedding photographer. There are lots of gorgeous venues here and East Soar Farm is one of them. When Lupe & Doug first contacted me I was mega-excited to hear that they were holding their wedding celebration here. I couldn’t have asked for a cooler couple either!!
Lupe & Doug are an awesome pair. They work in TV and first met on a film set in New York. That is where they are based. They were actually already married in NYC the previous year but wanted to have a wedding party & ceremony for family & friends in England. Doug is British with some Scottish heritage (hence the kilt) and Lupe is Mexican American.
They wanted the day to be a celebration of both their cultures. This made for some fantastic decor as they went for a ‘Mexican Day of the Dead’ theme with some Scottish detailing. I always love it when couples get creative so this was heaven for me. The barn at East Soar looked AMAZING! The ceiling was covered in Papel Picado (a Mexican version of bunting) and there were lots of colourful flowers and day of the dead figurines. The plates were decorated with tartan ribbon and thyme.
Outside haybayles lined the route to the ceremony spot, overlooking the sea. What a glorious day it was for it too! In-keeping with this unconventional wedding, Lupe & Doug had requested couple shots before the ceremony. We went for a walk out to the cliff nearby. The views around were stunning and I really enjoyed this relaxed pre-wedding photo shoot. When we got back the ceremony was almost ready to begin. These guys love The Beatles so everyone had a bit of a sing song. Afterwards Lupe & Doug were pelted by confetti as they made their way back towards the barn.
This was one wedding I literally had to drag myself away from, I loved every second! After the speeches the dancefloor was buzzing, whilst others sat around a fire toasting marshmallows. It was a brilliant start to the autumn and one of my favourite weddings of all time. Congratulations again to this lovely couple who I will see next week in New York!!
