I absolutely LOVE this time of year… when apples are ripening in the orchard and the nights start drawing in as the summer slowly turns to autumn. The light is so gorgeous as the sun dips a little lower in the sky.
Ella & Kieran’s wedding last August was blessed with this beautiful late summer light… It was one of those changeable English summer days when the sun is in & out and a splattering of rain soon gave way to a glorious rainbow. The couple held their celebration at Ella’s family farm near Exeter. It was a stunning location, with acres of farmland and a homely feel to it. All the decor was lovingly handmade for the occasion. Both the bride & groom are true nature lovers, so each table was named after a species of tree and wildflowers from their garden decorated the marquee.
Ella broke all conformity by donning a green wedding dress for the occasion in true eco-chic style. Continuing the environmental theme, guests were invited to plant a tree on the land in honour of the day. Their suppliers included Taw River Valley Dairy, an ethical dairy here in Devon, and an assortment of other local suppliers.
After dinner, guests were invited to join the ceilidh & people danced together for hours. Looking back to just over a year ago, it’s startling how much the world has changed since then. These simple scenes of merriment that we will never take for granted again; people cozying up on haybales, dancing together, holding hands and sharing food & hugs.
