River Cottage Winter Wedding

If you love a cosy winter wedding then River Cottage is the best venue! Rebecca & Dex were married here in early March ’22, right at the tail end of winter. I photographed a wedding here at the beginning of winter in November ’21 so it was really interesting to see the difference. In November the gardens had a warm, autumnal glow and they were just getting ready for their winter slumber. By this time in March everything was asleep, bar a few daffodils, which were the only indicator that spring was just around the corner. It was a beautiful time to visit, with lots of cosy fire-lit indoor space to cuddle up in and keep warm.

Rebecca & Dex had gone for a natural, down to earth vibe for their wedding day with some lovely shades of green on display, which perfectly complimented the season. They held their ceremony indoors as the rain was on & off in the morning. This is a lovely, rustic space to exchange wedding vows, with dried flowers hanging on the wall and plenty of space for lots of guests. It was a beautiful ceremony and afterwards we headed outside to the gardens for a few photos, before heading to the cosy yurt for reception drinks. The yurt has to be one of my favourite spaces on the farm. Even in the summer, it’s always so gorgeous in the evening for guests to enjoy the log fire and a cup of tea! I took Rebecca & Dex for a wander outside and we took some pictures in the greenhouse and gardens. Rebecca had requested a photo with Marmaduke, the resident ginger fluffball who is often seen roaming the grounds. Luckily we managed to find him too! This was a lovely wedding to start the ’22 season, with a gorgeous venue and a lovely couple.
