Summer holidays… those sunny days of chaos & adventure are nearly upon us. For us parents it can be mayhem right?! Those long, hot days spent entertaining kids and juggling work. In between the madness of it all though there is much magic. We finally have time for a proper camping trip, sunset picnics on the beach, exploring coves + rockpools + woodlands. It’s easy to forget how fleeting these small chapters of our lives are.

It’s also easy (even as a photographer!) to leave these moments undocumented. We’ve had family visiting us in Devon over the past few years and have lots of lovely memories but hardly any photos to show from them, except a few iphone images. Who wants to take an expensive camera to the beach?! Not me, especially during wedding season. Last year I lost a close friend to cancer. Before she fell ill we had a vague plan to do a family shoot. It never happened. That broke my heart and it made me vow to do more family photo shoots. I saw the real value of documenting those moments of togetherness and creating a treasure trove of memories for myself and others.

This year I will be running a series of seasonal mini shoots, making my family photography available to anyone on any budget. The first of these will be Summer Holiday sessions, held for two weekends in August on the beach at Mothecombe and by the river on the beautiful Dartington Estate.

Why book a mini shoot with me? Mini shoots are a great way to connect and to get a feel for having a photoshoot. It can be easier with kids than a longer shoot and a great way to get some professional pics. These images can make great Christmas presents! Also, in the current financial climate you may not want to fork out for a private photoshoot. This is a great option to capture some of those summer holiday memories without the full commitment.
