Maypole Wedding The Grain Store Devon | Jess & Tom
Maypole Wedding The Grain Store Devon.
A Maypole & ‘The Detectorists’ – Jess & Tom’s Folky Devon Wedding
The month of May has a special type of magic. In the Devon countryside the hedgerows & fields turn a lush green and colourful wildflowers begin to blossom. It’s one of my favourite times of year and I always mark the 1st of May with a Beltane celebration, a time of dancing, maypoles, and welcoming in the summer.
When Jess & Tom got in touch about their wedding at The Grain Store here in Devon I was super excited to hear that they were planning to incorporate a maypole into the celebrations! Their laid-back folky wedding plans sounded totally awesome and I was looking forward to capturing it all.
It didn’t disappoint.
The whole day had a wonderful, earthy charm — a mix of rustic styling, joy-filled moments, and meaningful little details. One of the unexpected highlights from the day was when they everyone sang ‘The Detectorists’ song by Johnny Flynn during the ceremony. This was a touching moment. I loved that they had ‘briar & bramble’ engraved onto their wedding rings too 🙂 It felt so perfectly them — rooted in nature, poetic, and quietly romantic.
I had such a gorgeous day and was totally in my element photographing Jess & Tom’s wedding. Congratulations again to them both, wishing them many more happy days dancing around the maypole together.
