Quirky Woodland Wedding Photography at an Alternative Wedding in Maidstone.

What can I say about this quirky woodland wedding… it was truly a magical day with some very unique touches.. think Game of Thrones meets Harry Potter and you’ll have an idea! Kat & Mat got in touch with me in 2017 via RocknRoll Bride Magazine. They were looking to do something a bit different for their wedding, which is something I’m always excited about! I was not disappointed. Their wedding plans included a ring bearing OWL, a Game of Thrones dinner theme & Nintendo games as part of the evening celebrations!

The wedding venue was the Orangery in Maidstone, a bit of a trek from Devon but well worth it. They held an outdoor ceremony in a wooded part of the venue, with twiggy wreaths decorating the logs for a ‘wild wedding’ look. During in which, a barn owl made his appearance with the rings. A real treat for the guests! The owl & his fellow feathered friends hung out for the reception, adding some magic to the day.

Kat & Mat are big Game of Throne fans and this was the theme for their dinner. They made some fantastically creative centrepieces for the tables.. go check them out! They certainly added to the ethereal feel of the day. The colour palette was warm with tones red, blush & gold. Kat has bright red hair so the bold colours really suited her. This was contrasted with a deep forest green, as seen in the grooms attire. I love the colour of their ties and the alternative buttonholes. This was a colourful day for a colourful couple! It was really a pleasure to be a part of this quirky woodland wedding. Thanks to my second shooter for the day, Lee too for doing an amazing job.
