Hajra & Kazim | Documentary Wedding Photographer
This wedding is a little different to the usual outdoor wedding’s that I photograph in the South West – farm weddings, beach weddings etc. Hajra & Kazim had two wedding celebrations – both city based and theirs was a Muslim wedding with very different traditions.
Their first wedding was in Leicester, far away from the rolling green hills & beaches of Devon. The venue was the Leicester Tigers Stadium – a football stadium in the city. Hajra is originally from Leicester so this was a great choice for the family wedding celebrations. Her parents house was close by and I met them all the evening before for a pre-wedding party, which was a lot of fun 🙂 I used to live in India and I love all of the colourful sari’s, and henna (or Mehndi) which you can see on Hajra’s hands. The thing that is most surprising about Muslim wedding’s is that the couple actually wed in two separate rooms! After the ceremony the two rooms came together and we ventured outside for a few pictures and a bit of confetti. The evening celebrations continued a week later nr Heathrow in London, where the couple live. This was a great opportunity for Hajra & Kazim to celebrate with all of their London friends. It was lovely getting to know this couple and meeting all of their friends & family over the two days.
