I took a short break from Devon wedding photography recently and travelled down to London on an assignment for Actionaid. It was such an inspiring day! I love working for these guys. The event I was covering was the Actionaid campaigners conference… there were stalls, talks and workshops all day long. Activists from Malawi were speaking about tax dodging by UK companies and calling on people to stand with them and Make Tax Fair. Zoe Williams from The Guardian was a guest speaker and workshops ran all day, giving people the chance to team up and get creative about activism and share knowledge about violence against women and domestic abuse. Women’s Aid gave a couple of workshops and held a stall all day long. It was a great opportunity to get together, share some information and get excited about campaigning. I bumped into an old friend who I used to work with street fundraising for Actionaid many moons ago. It was lovely to see her there and to both be part of the event years later. There is still so much to do to fight poverty, injustice and to protect women so it’s important to get involved whenever and however you can.
